The Middle East is an area where is king and fuel is low-cost, often leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving.

But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have pushed up the price of oil, the concern of discovering alternative sources of fuel has actually entered sharp focus.

In a region that has one of the highest carbon footprints in the world, one service is taking advantage of the growing pressure to find options to oil. It’s set up the Middle East’s first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It’s showing lucrative too, already their client-list contains McDonald’s.
